New Mexico is home to mountains, hills, canyons and plains. Some of the canyons and valleys in central New Mexico (just west of Albuquerque) hold petroglyphs -- ancient native drawings, anywhere from 600 to 3,000 years old. Thousands of petroglyphs have been found in the hills west of Albuquerque.Scroll through this selection from the summer of '99.
